We guide a gentle practice to name invisible weights, set them down with care, and let the body open to fuller breath and space. We close with a reflection to choose one thing to pause and a slow return to the room with lightness and ease.

Welcome and Intention

SPEAKER_00

Hello, and welcome to Breathe and Be. I'm Mary Ann, and I'm so glad you're here. This is your time to slow down, to breathe, and simply be. Wherever you are, let this be a few moments of kindness for your mind, your body, and your heart. We all carry things that no one else can see. Sometimes those weights are small, a worry that lingers, a to-do list that never seems to end. Sometimes they are heavy. Grief, expectations, the quiet ache of trying to hold it all together. These weights don't only live in our minds. They settle into the body, into our breath, our posture, the way we move through the world. Over time, we forget what it feels like to move freely. Today we'll practice setting those weights down. Not to ignore them, but to rest from them, even for just a little while.

SPEAKER_01

Let yourself arrive in your body.

SPEAKER_00

Relax into a comfortable position, either setting or lying down. Feel the natural weight of yourself being held. The way the surface beneath you fully supports you.

Arriving in the Body

SPEAKER_01

Once more, inhale, filling your lungs gently. And exhale, letting your breath flow out.

SPEAKER_00

Now begin to notice where are you holding your stress or worries?

Locating Tension with Awareness

SPEAKER_01

That extra weight we all carry. Maybe it's in your shoulders, your chest, your neck, or your stomach.

Visualizing and Setting Down the Load

SPEAKER_00

Maybe it feels like pressure or tightness or a sense of heaviness. You don't need to fix it. Just notice it as if shining a light on the places that have been working hard for you. Now imagine this heaviness is something you can hold in your hands. Maybe a basket, a purse, or a backpack you've been carrying for a long time. It holds everything you've been managing, the thoughts, the worries, the grief, the trying. Take a moment to look at it. Acknowledge what it has meant to you, what it has hurt, and what it has helped.

SPEAKER_01

And now, if you're ready, gently set it beside you. Place it on the ground where the earth can hold it. Feel the relief in your body as you release some of that effort.

SPEAKER_00

Maybe your shoulders soften, or your jaw loosens, or your breath just smooths easier.

SPEAKER_01

You don't have to carry it all right now. The earth knows how to hold what you cannot.

SPEAKER_00

When we've carried too much for too long, our bodies start to close in. Our shoulders get rounded, our heart is guarded, and our breath is shallow.

SPEAKER_01

Now that you've set something down, feel what happens when you allow yourself to open. Let your shoulders gently roll back.

SPEAKER_00

Let your spine lengthen. Let your chest expand as your breath fills you. Feel the space you're taking up. This is your space.

SPEAKER_01

You are allowed to stretch into it, to breathe more deeply, to exist without shrinking down. Imagine your breath expanding in all directions.

Resting in Spaciousness

SPEAKER_00

Front and back, side to side, top to bottom. You are not small, and you deserve the space to be exactly as you are, exactly what you need. You can rest here, knowing the weight is safely beside you. You can always return to it if you need to. But for now, let yourself be held by the ground beneath you, by your breath, by something larger than yourself.

SPEAKER_01

You are allowed to rest. You are allowed to let go. You are allowed to take up space.

SPEAKER_00

As we come to the end of this meditation, I invite you to reflect on this. What is one thing you can let go of or simply set down for now?

SPEAKER_01

Something you can come back to later.

Reflection and Gentle Return

SPEAKER_00

Now begin to notice what's around you. The sounds, the air, the textures that meet your skin. Bring small movement back into your body if that feels right. Maybe a gentle stretch of your fingers.

SPEAKER_01

A slow rocking of your neck from side to side. Take a full breath in.

Closing Blessing and Ease

SPEAKER_00

As you return to your day or your evening, I hope you are able to feel a little lighter. Thank you for joining me for this practice. May you move through your day with a little more ease, a little more spaciousness, and the gentle knowing that you don't have to carry it all, all of the time. Until next time, breathe, be, and take good care.
