Welcome And Gentle Arrival

SPEAKER_01

Hello, and welcome to Breathe and Be. I'm Mary Ann, and I'm so glad you're here. Today we'll take a small journey into a story, one that feels like late autumn after the leaves have fallen, when the world has gone quiet and gray. Yet human warmth glows from windows, doorways, and gathering places. Take a deep, steady breath in and let it fall slowly away. Let your body settle. Let your mind soften. And when you're ready, allow the story to unfold around you. You find yourself standing at the edge of a long, narrow road. The sky above is a muted gray, stretched thin like an old blanket. The trees on either side are bare, branches reaching up like dark, quiet sketches against the clouds. Everything around you is washed in shades of brown, gray, and black. The soft colors of the world settling down for winter, but not yet asleep.

Take a slow breath in exhale gently.

Ahead the road curves toward a small town. Even from here, you can see the houses clustered together. Older homes painted in bright, cheerful colors. Teal, mustard yellow, deep green, and a faded red. Their colors stand out boldly against the dreary landscape, as if the people who live here decided long ago to answer gray seasons with vibrancy. You begin to walk. Your footsteps crunch softly on the cold earth. A light breeze moves across your skin, carrying the scent of smoke and something warm. Maybe spiced cider, maybe wood burning, that unmistakable coziness of a hearth.

SPEAKER_00

As you approach the town gate, you notice a small movement along the roadside.

Village Gate And Living Color

SPEAKER_01

A fox steps out, thin, graceful, with fur the color of rusted copper. Not bright like summer, but deep, earthy, like the last remaining warmth of autumn. The fox pauses and looks up at you with steady, intelligent eyes. You take a breath in and release it slowly, quietly. The fox doesn't speak, but something in the tilt of its head invites you to follow. It turns and walks ahead of you, not hurried, not cautious, just sure as if it knows the way. So you follow.

SPEAKER_00

The town's wooden gate creaks as you pass beneath it.

SPEAKER_01

And suddenly you are surrounded by color, sound, and life. Even on this gray day, lanterns glow at doorsteps, warm light pours from windows, people in thick sweaters and worn coats walk toward the center of town. All moving slowly, peacefully, as if following a familiar ritual.

SPEAKER_00

You follow the flow.

Loosening The Heaviness

SPEAKER_01

At the heart of the village is a wide square. In its center, there's a bonfire, tall, glowing alive. The flames crackle in shades of amber and gold. A bright pillar of warmth against the pale sky. Villagers gather around it, talking softly, sharing warm drinks, resting after the long autumn harvest, celebrating the final turning of the season. The fox sets beside you at the edge of the square, as if offering you a place, a quiet moment inside the circle of warmth. Take a breath in, feeling the way the heat from the fire touches your face. An exhale, letting your shoulders soften. You watch the flames dance, the gray world behind you fades. Here in this small bright square, there is a sense of belonging, a sense of being held gently by the presence of others, even strangers. A villager walks by and nods to you as though they've been expecting you. Someone hands you a warm cup. Steam curls upward, carrying sweet, spiced air. The fox settles in at your feet. You don't need to speak. You don't need to do anything. Just breathe. Softly, slowly, letting the warmth ease into your chest as you sat by the fire. You feel something loosening inside, a heaviness you didn't know you were carrying, a tightness you've been holding for too long. The light doesn't ask you to let go of it, but somehow in setting here, you find that you do. Just a little, just enough.

SPEAKER_00

Take one more breath in and out.

Farewell, Return To The Body

SPEAKER_01

The fox rises, gives one soft glance back at you, and slips away into the dimming light. The bonfire continues to roar gently. You feel steadier, warmer, more present. This moment, this warmth, is yours to return to whenever you need. Begin to bring awareness back to where you are. Feel the surface beneath you, the air around you, the breath moving gently through your body. Wiggle your fingers, roll your shoulders, let your eyes stay soft until you're ready to open them. And when you do, carry with you the warmth of that fire, the colors of the village, and the quiet companionship of the fox. Thank you for listening and for spending this time with me. May the rest of your day hold moments of warmth, even in the gray places.
